My sister Phoebe got married in a beautiful Jane Hill dress in 2014, so of course as soon as I got engaged we were booking my flights to Melbourne for an appointment (I live in Singapore).
The Sienna gown was one of the first I tried on, and even though I looked at a few others, I knew deep down I had to have it!
The Jane Hill team are the best, I made variations to my dress in fittings along the way and the whole experience was faultless. When the day finally arrived my dress was even more amazing than I could have imagined. I so wish I could wear it again!
I wore blush nubuck heels from Nine West. A lot of the day was on grass, so I went for a chunky heel with a slight platform. My bridesmaids wore tan heels from Alias Mae.
Our amazing photographer was Lara Milenko from Milenko Weddings. We were looking for natural / candid style photography and Lara has exactly that, as well as an amazing eye for detail. We’re still blown away by all of the special moments captured.
For the video we wanted something a little different that wouldn’t be packed away after one view. I came across Graeme Passmore on Vimeo and just loved his work. Our final video is still coming, but if the teaser is anything to go by we know it’s going to be awesome!
I was so happy with our flowers by Kelley and Jaala at Bower Botanicals. We had a mix of roses, peonies, dahlias, orchids and other beautiful things! The ceremony was in a stunning outdoor setting, so we decided on white and green for the bouquets, aisle petals and arbor decoration. Inside the reception space we added some colour with coral / nude / peach for the table arrangements.
My engagement ring and our wedding bands are from AG Designer Jeweller in Brisbane, and I also wore a fine Tiffany & Co bracelet my husband gave me on the day. My bridesmaids and I wore earrings from Samantha Wills.
Hair & makeup for the day was by Ava Belle Luxury Bridal. Ava was lovely and so patient with trialling different options. My makeup was kept quite fresh and I decided on hair up to be fuss-free and show the back of my dress.
My sister (also my Maid of Honour) found the bridesmaid dresses in Melbourne. They were by Australian label Acler. I love how beautiful the gold looked with the white and green. The girls looked amazing!
We had a welcome sign, seating chart and bar menu made by Tres Collective in white and gold. My lovely friend helped me to design and print name cards and menus.
The ceremony and reception were both held at The Orchard Estate in Clunes – Byron Bay Hinterland. The venue has a beautiful purpose built barn set on the rolling hills of a macadamia nut farm.
Being a ‘create your own’ wedding venue, everything on the day we sourced ourselves through local vendors. We had on-the-day coordination by The Events Lounge and our furniture and other hire pieces were from Hampton Event Hire and The One Day Wedding House.
Our Celebrant, Ben Carlyle, was such a legend. He made what was I thought would be a nerve racking part of the day really really fun.
We had several comments about how great the food was. Our caterer was 100 Mile Table who are all about fresh and local produce. After the ceremony there were drinks & canapes and then everyone sat down for a shared feasting style entree and main.
The super talented Emily of Secret Weapon Cakes made our 3-tier white chocolate raspberry & salted caramel cake. It was dessert for the night and for days following!
My brother played guitar & sang as I walked down the aisle which was so special. For the early part of the day our friend and wedding guest Nigel Spence performed a live set and for the dance floor we had DJ Matt Walker from North Coast Entertainment.
My best advice is probably the most commonly given – enjoy every minute because it really does go too quickly.
