Dress & Veil

My dress and veil were both from Jane Hill Bridal. I had nothing but the best experience at their amazing Greville St store. To be honest, prior to this I had had an underwhelming experience in trying to find a wedding dress and was ready to look for an elegant white dress to wear as a wedding dress rather than shopping for a “wedding gown”. This all changed when I met beautiful Jen at Jane Hill.

She made the whole experience so easy and calm and gave amazing advice as to what dress styles suited my body! Never in a million years would I have thought I would wear a strapless wedding dress, but thats exactly what I ended up with and absolutely loved every detail of the gown!!

Shoes

Classic stilettos by Stuart Weitzman from David Jones. Plain nude colour with a cuff around the ankle and zip on the back.

Photography & Videography

Joseph Willis and his team. We knew Joey prior to the wedding so was nice to have a familiar face shooting and he made us all feel extremely comfortable and at ease. You barely noticed that Joey was there, he never got in the way however he still managed to capture every moment.

Flowers

Elise from Elyssium Blooms created stunning arrangements of white flowers and lots of green foliage. Elise was heavily pregnant at the time but that didn’t stop her from scaling her ladder to cover our white wire arbour (from Love Struck Weddings) completely in beautiful fresh flowers!

Jewellery

I kept jewellery very minimal. I wore a pair of drop pearl earring from Natasha Schweitzer Jewellery. My bridesmaids wore a simple gold bar stud earring from Country Road.

Hair & Makeup

Hair: Hayley from Mavericks Hair Salon and Art Space in Coolangatta came to Halcyon House and styled the hair of myself and my bridesmaids. Hayley and her team were so relaxed yet extremely efficient and the end result was stunning.Make-up:Alana Mevissen did an incredible job on our make up.

My husband dislikes make up and requested that I didn’t wear any for the wedding. That wasn’t going to happen, but I dislike heavy make up too! Having used Alana previously for events, I knew that I could trust her to create very natural looks that were still long lasting and photograph well.

Bridesmaids Dresses

I purchased the bridesmaid dresses from the limited edition W collection from By Johnny.I loved that the girls were able to choose between a couple of different styles that really complimented their body shapes. I thought they were glamorous yet sexy and were the perfect shade of blue against the Halcyon House blue and white backdrop.

Ceremony & Reception

Our ceremony and reception were both at Halcyon House in Cabarita Beach. The ceremony took place on council land between the gates of the Halcyon pool and the sand of beautiful Cabarita beach. We had perfect weather and loved that the guests could lounge by the pool bar and have cocktails and canapés while the bridal party went to Cabarita headland to have photos taken. The reception continued at Paper Daisy restaurant at Halcyon House- the food was so stunning. We lined the tables with share plates of beautiful fresh food and once everyone was full we whisked the tables away to make room for the dance floor that was packed well into the night!

Catering

Paper Daisy restaurant at Halcyon House did all our food. We had canapés around the pool, followed by seated entree and mains and roving dessert. At 10.30pm we served sliders to continue to fuel the dance floor goers.

Cake

We decided against a cake for our wedding. Neither of us are cake fans and felt they are often so expensive, go uneaten and are logistically a nightmare at most weddings. Instead we opted for an ice cream cart by the pool that guests could go to in their own time to satisfy their sweet tooth.

Entertainment

There was so much entertainment – I feel we had something for everyone. Tom and Hemi from Tom James Duo played acoustic songs during the ceremony and then continued to play throughout the canapés by the pool. As the reception started Jarred Bell from Tom and Jarred DJs played chilled lounge tunes which then turned into bangers for the rest of the night.  One of the highlights of our wedding day was our first dance that was sung by our dear friends Gab, Jess and Tim from Please Louise.
